From a B.S. in mathematics into a biology Ph.D., now in the expansive realm of physics that is the Mahadevan lab, Maati likes to approach research with an open mind, an interdisciplinary heart, and a working calculator. Her current projects focus on the biophysics of colloidal suspensions using sickle cell disease as a model, and, thanks to the collaborative mentorship of Dr. Nipam Patel, the biophysics of structural color in swallowtail butterfly wing scales. When not in the lab, Maati enjoys roller skating, knitting, and geocaching.
